COACH MAKINS: CENTRAL DEKALB JAGUARS

Some coaches I enjoy talking X’s and O’s with because they truly know football but with Mike Makins it is so much more to him than just that. Speaking with Coach you learn how to run a team, how to handle your kids and deal with the parents. Coach and I spent almost an hour one day waiting on a team to arrive for a game. Instead of him getting mad Coach and I just sat and talked about how he runs his team. Sure we could have talked about football but lets be honest what can we bounce off each other that we both didn’t know. As we talked I found about a coach that was a leader and as a leader he expected his parents and his players to conduct them selves a certain way. He demands that his parents don’t interfere with what he does on the field and he wont interfere with what they do off the field. If you don’t agree with that then Coach Makins team might not be a good fit for you but if you believe in structure and also having a chance to win every game then this is your type of team.

Coach Makins was able to lead his team to an undefeated record and a very convincing win in the MAYFL championship. In the championship of the B2C Battle of the Best Coach Makins beat the number two-ranked team by twenty…enough said.
