Addison Nichols – Class 2022

Addison Nichols is an upcoming star tight end for the Greater Atlanta Christian School. The #3 ranked TE in Georgia for the class of 2022 standout is high school ready as an 8th grader at 6’4, 252lbs, and as athletic as any TE nationally. His combination of blocking and receiving played a huge role in their offensive success. Not only is he a huge target for his quarterback, but he’s a strong blocker for his running backs behind him. Nichols was nominated by Born to Compete for Tight End of the Year this past month for his performance on the field in 2017. In addition to playing for Greater Atlanta Christian, Nichols won the FBU National Championship with the 8th grade GFL team this past December.

Nichols is a dynamic athlete that dominates in the position’s two biggest areas. “My biggest strengths are my catching and blocking right now. I feel I can catch any ball thrown my direction. Strongest skillset right now are my hands I spend a lot of time working on that, but I’m also a good blocker. It’s something I’m continuing to work on each year” said Nichols.

While the regular season didn’t turn out the way he wanted in terms of wins and losses, the experience Nichols gained was huge before high school ball. “We didn’t do too well this past season but there was a ton learning experience that’ll help moving forward as I continue to get better as a tight end and teammate,” he said.

Nichols’ versatility on offense was used in a number of ways last year. Greater Atlanta Christian did a good job of getting their play-maker the ball. A standout moment was a sixty-yard touchdown run against Holy Innocents. Nichols lined up as fullback, took the hand off and barreled his way down the field for an explosive touchdown. At tight end, Nichols had a favorite they play ran numerous times in the season. “I’d block the defender for three seconds and slip out to the flat for the reception,” added Nichols.

While extremely talented and physically ready to contribute right away, there’s still work to be done if you ask him. “I need to work on my ability to run after catch. I feel I’m okay at it but there’s some improvement to be had with my route running and moving after the ball is in my hands,” Nichols explained. “I love to watch Rob Gronkoswki; he’s the best at his position. I just want to be able to complete my game in that way,” Nichols added.

“My goals next season are to improve myself, help my teammates, and get ready for a good high school career moving forward” Nichols stated. “I just want to be able to come in and earn the respect of my high school teammates and coaches.

Nichols will compete in both football and track & field at Greater Atlanta Christian. The future is bright both on and off the field.
