Tucker Lions // B2C Park Spotlight

First strapping on the pads in 1955, the Tucker Football League is the oldest youth park in the metro Atlanta area. The TFL program is one of the top organizations in the southeast with talent in the area second to none in Atlanta. TFL players have combined to win 5 NFL Super Bowls. Tucker competes in the Youth Football Alliance with teams ranging from 5U-12U. “We try to give the kids a family environment.” said TFL Athletic Director Brandon Abrahams. “It goes beyond football. We want families to buy into our program. We’re all a big family over here. Older kids watch the younger kid’s game and vice versa. We hang out together on and off the field. We teach family and togetherness, so that’s what we’re all about”, added Abrahams. “We have a great relationship with Coach Bryan Lamar of Tucker High School. We do some of our offseason workouts on their field. We work clinics and camps together also.”

Last season, the 6U, 7U, and 11U teams represented TFL in the YFA Championship. The 7U team won the championship while the 6U and 11U finished strong seasons as league runner up. The 6U team lost a triple overtime thriller and the 11U team lost to the No. 1 team in the state. All three teams went to the B2C Championships and lost in the semi-finals.

TFL made a statement years ago winning the inaugural Frank Ski Bowl against the Atlanta Vikings. “It was a historic win for us because we were in a different league than the Vikings.” explained Abrahams. Everyone said we didn’t play tough competition, but TFL came out and made a statement. That team stands out, but I believe our 12U team this year is as good as we’ve ever had”, explained Abrahams.

“Our 12U team is going to win the Frank Ski bowl this fall. We’re one of the best in the nation. This team won back to back B2C championships at 8U and 9U. We had some hiccups at 10u and 11U but we brought in a lot of new kids and coaches for this season. We have three former NFL players on this staff. This is going to be a special group.” Abrahams told B2C.

Bryce Clavon is a standout quarterback for the rising 12U Tucker Lions. His presence as the signal caller opens the door for the Lions on offense. “Clavon is one of if not the best quarterback at the 12U level in Atlanta. Not only because of his physical gifts, which he has, but it’s his coachability that stands out. You can tell him where to throw the ball and that’s where he is going to throw it.” explained Abrahams. Tucker is known traditionally as a run heavy team, so Clavon’s ability to stretch the field is going to help open running lanes in 2018. “The running back group is a four headed monster. We have four guys that can beat you all over the field. Our defense is going to continue to be our anchor. This 12U defense is outstanding. We will meet our standard. Our goal is to win the YFA Championship and win the Frank Ski bowl in 2018”, said Abrahams.

Tucker opens the 2018 football season on August 25th.
