Tyler Hughes is the quarterback for the Marietta 8th Grade Blue Devils. The B2C Player of the Year nominee (Class of 2022) standout led his team to an 8-2 record and a berth in the GMSAA Championship game. Even though they came up short against McEachern, this was one of Marietta best season at the 8th Grade division in recent memory. “I feel like the score isn’t a good indicator of how the game went. It got away from us in the second half”, he explained.
Hughes the #4 ranked Dual Threat QB in Georgia is a gifted player poised to show out at the next level soon. “My athletic ability separates myself from other quarterbacks. I’m a dual threat and I love to run and make explosive plays. The 6ft 170 pound quarterback has the frame and talent to make all the throws needed at the next level. “I need to construct myself a little better as I can be shaky on a few things but I don’t consider myself to have a weakness”.
Hughes showed off those talents against Lassiter in the GMSAA semi-finals. “My favorite game was against Lassiter in the semis. I showed a lot of heart and determination as there were many ups and downs in that game and we had to push through.” Hughes explained. Up by one score late in the game trying to seal the win, Hughes ran for a 40 yard touchdown to clinch the victory, 40-27. “My goal was to be better than last season and make it to the championship, so I feel I accomplished my goals as I got better as a player and we reached the Championship”.
Hughes is a huge Auburn fan, but not just of the Tigers football team. “They’re really big on engineering and I want to be an engineer”. Tyler Hughes is a name to remember on and off the field.
