MILFORD SENDS A MESSAGE TO ALL 8U TEAMS
Some coaches have a very confident attitude, some call it cockiness, some call it bravado, some call it swagger. I guess it really just depends on if you win or if you lose. Either way this confident coach has injected his program and team with a swagger that is undeniable.
With a league attached to his back Coach Shawn has done a wonderful job with the Milford Warriors. Creating a very competitive team and a environment that the kids are not just held responsible for what they do on the field but also what they do off the field. They are also celebrated and disciplined for both.
As Shawn would say “There is no need for them to come out here and win all these games but they are losing in the classroom”. Coach Shawn has created a silent monster. Very similar to what Coach AC has done over at DeKalb.
Coach Shawn likes to call himself the Ambassador of Cobb County, well that might be true or false depending on who you ask but there is no questioning his teams ability on the football field.
Once you step in the park you hear the sirens that mimic a hurricane coming. The flags are waving and then everyone starts chanting “Milford Warriors”. The Warriors walk from the top of the stairs to the field as parents greet them as they make their way to the field…which has been officially given the name by B2C of “The Swamp”.
The Milford Warriors are led by Player of the Year nominee running back #9 and also a very, very fast defense. With the great parent support that they have it is easy to see why the Warriors are as good as advertised.
They have a saying at Milford, we score when we want to, well there might be some truth to it because as soon as their offense got the ball they scored. That was pretty much the theme for the day as #9 (Warriors) had three touchdowns, one was twenty yards and the other two were touchdowns over 50 yards. I’m not sure if anyone was taking stats but I am pretty sure the kid set some kind of record. Even though the other team put forth a great effort the Warriors were just to much for them. They ended up winning the game by multiple touchdowns as they advanced to the NGYFL championship game
At the end of the day I learned a couple of things about this team and association
1. They have some of the best barbeque
2. They have one of the best introductions in all of youth football
3. Their running back #9 is a very good running back
4. The Milford Warriors are the real deal
Enough said
