Once a month Born To Compete will be updating the B2C Prime 89 list for the top players in the Class of 2019 for the state of Georgia. Last year Trevor Lawrence started off as our #2 rated QB in Georgia after the football season ended. Once the summer ended he was our #1 rated player in the country due to his hard work that he put in over the summer. Then he went out and showed everyone just how good he is as he was named the MaxPreps National Freshman of the year in football. Since we do understand that players are constantly getting better then once a month Born To Compete will be updating the B2C Prime 89 list for the top players in the Class of 2019. Who is getting better and taking advantage of their offseason and wants to make a positive impact on the field next year as high school freshman. Our list will always change as players will develop and grow over this summer. Some will get better and some will stay the same. Either way it’s going to be a exciting summer for those player as they prepare for the next level
Can play either running back or linebacker. Depending on the school he goes to will decide if he gets on the field his freshman year. If he goes to a school that doesn’t play freshman on varsity then he wont be playing it but if he goes to a school that does let freshman play then I can see him playing on special teams and in some third down packages because of his speed and open field tackling. He is taking advantage of the summer and getting a lot better at redirecting route runners and as always he closes on the ball very fast.
Built just like Trevor Lawrence from Cartersville. He is raw but he is working with Ocular Sports so they will make sure to get him where he needs to be. Not as accurate on his short throws but he has a big time arm and all the size you could ever ask for. So he will get scouts attention off of size alone, once he starts completing his short to mid range passes more often he is going to be a star.
Not sure what he is going to play at the next level but as long as he going to camps he will continue to show well as he is a speed guy. Playing safety or wide receiver will be a good idea for him as he is a natural fit for those positions. Will get to see a lot more of him as he is on the Adidas 7v7 team. He will eventually run into some very good competition that will help him develop at the WR position when it comes to running routes against man press coverage.
A couple of years ago at 12U he was the defensive player of the year and it was very well deserved. This summer it is going to be curious just to see how big he grows, as he is an absolute DOG. He is a solid basketball player so that lets you know that he has athletic ability and if you look at his family you will see that his brother Derrick Brown was just named as the top defensive lineman in Georgia by Scout.com so you know he is going to have the size. More people are finally taking notice to the playmaker on the defensive side.
Here is a case of a player being the best player every time he touches the field. He had plenty of big games last year with his middle school team McEachern as they won the GMSAA Championship. Now he goes into a great situation in high school at McEachern High as they have a great passing game. He could possibly end up getting a little bit of playing time his freshman year but for sure by his sophomore year he will set the high school ranks on fire because of his big play ability and also due to the fact that he will have an all state player at the QB position and one out at WR.
Cant Wait To See These Players
Jaylen is making the move to DB and he looks very good. Not knowing if he is a tall kid that is going to keep growing or he has maxed out I applaud the parents and Jaylen for committing to the move as he will be a 5 star a Safety as he develops. You can already see him working hard in one on one drills against WR’s as he is becoming a problem for them at the line of scrimmage. More reps will get him more comfortable as you see his hips more fluidly and his feet and hands are always in good position. He is rumored to have ran a 4.6 which is great for a player that has had no speed or agility training ever. His ceiling is very high
Chris Hinton Jr.
No player out there intrigues the football world like Chris. Comes from a great family who understands the football world because of his All Pro dad but everyone is curious to see how he will come back from the injury and let me tell you he will be just fine. Recently saw him at a basketball game and he is huge! So whether he puts his hand in the dirt on defense or offense he will be a 5 star. Think of him as more aggressive Isacc Nauta from Buford who recently transferred to IMG.
A great talent as he is taking this time to work on his man coverage skill by playing a lot of corner for the summer camp series. A natural safety because of the way he tackles, runs the alley and plays the ball with his eyes in the backfield. Now with him working at corner he is trying to enter the Eric Berry mold as being a corner that can walk down on a WR and help his defense bring pressure on third and long. As of right now he is always in position to make a play on the ball. As he gets older and stronger he will be able to make those plays as he consistently putting his hands on the ball to attempt to knock it out of the WR’s hands.
He is getting big! Recently saw him playing a basketball game in the ultra competitive CCJBC and he was phenomenal with 17 points against Wheeler who is the best team in the state. If he takes after his dad (LB at FSU) which it seems like it will happen then Steele has the ability to be a great linebacker. Even if he doesn’t achieve that size he can still tote the rock with the best of them at RB.
A smaller wideout that can play in the slot. Not very fast but he runs great routes and has very good hands when going away from the ball. Has to develop more catching the ball when going towards the ball for example slants, curls and short side digs. That will come in time, with reps as his hands are always in good position to catch the ball. Great thing about Deshon is that he is simply just a very good football player that can get the job done a rise to the level of competition when it is time to put the pads on
