B2C Prime: Jacob Smith (GA)
When talking to Jacob Smith the 2020 prospect from Forsyth, GA , you instantly notice that he is ALL Lineman. What I mean by that he takes pride putting his hands in the dirt, firing off and laying out the defender. Standing at 6”0 and weighing 250 pounds, Smith can SEEM to be an imposing figure sometimes. Well that is until the ball is snapped an you KNOW that is a monster down in the trenches. Right now people are saying all the right things about Jacob, he is a smart football player, aggressive, fires off the ball well, has great hand placement and can get to the second level and make key blocks when asked to do it.
When asked about what makes a good lineman Jacob instantly goes into team mode. Talking about how the line has to play together as a unit before you can even talk about one singular lineman. It’s like his personality is almost to good be true but thats how Jacob thinks and that lets you know that he understands the game of football so well that he might even end up being a coach one day when his playing days are over.
When asked who is his favorite college team, Jacob instantly talks about Oregon and how he likes the system that they are running and how that believe in running the ball. If you are wondering why would a 8th Grader that is 250 pounds like the uptempo style of Oregon, well that is because the massive guard has great feet and pulling for him isn’t an issue at all.
The Piney Grove Middle School Athlete has accomplished a lot in his young career. Now the next step will be trying to lead his team to a county championship and then more than likely making his rounds on the all star games circuit. By the end of this upcoming summer he will be a household name when it comes to talking about the one of the best rising freshman in the country playing on the offensive line.
