James Fullbright determined to be the best
by Carla Parker
Ranked at #28 overall in the B2C Prime 100 for the class of 2019, James Fullbright understands he still has to put in the work to remain at the top.
“There is so much talent around and I have to keep working because they want your spot,” he said.
Fullbright, who is 5-foot-7 and weigh 185 pounds, plays for Midway High School in Waco, Texas. He said he feels honored to be considered not only one of the top running back in Texas but also in the country.
“I put so much time in, I work hard and I know hard work pays off,” he said.
Fullbright said he started playing running back because he loves the position.
“I’ve always loved running back,” he said. “I just love it, I love watching it on TV and I learn from (other running backs).”
He also plays outside linebacker for the varsity team at Midway. Fullbright had the opportunity to play in the 2014 Eastbay Youth All-American in December in Naples, Fla. He said he enjoyed his time there.
“I liked meeting new people around the country, and seeing that guy from Florida and knowing that he is working hard as me,” he said. “I know when I come back home I have to work harder.”
Fullbright said he hopes people will see that he is a versatile. Although he has not decided which college he would like to play for in the future, he does have a Top 3.
“My three favorite colleges are Baylor—because [it’s] close and on the up rise, Texas—I’ve always like Texas, and my third one is Texas A&M because [it’s] in the SEC,” he said.
It is easy to see why he is already on the radar for college recruits as Fulbright is a monster in the backfield. Runs well behind his pads, initiates contact, never stops moving his legs and when he makes a decision to get up field he puts his foot in the ground and goes.
How he is going to end up we don’t know but for this Class of 2019 running back we know that he is headed in the right direction.
