Basketball Player of the Year Finalist- Girls

Vote for the Player that you think should be named Player of the Year below.  Voting ends March 16.

Janya Love-Hill
Fort Middle
A dynamic oint guard who can do it all.  She can dribble, pass, shoot and defend like a pit bull.  When she is on the court she is in full control of the game, which makes her special.  Makes plays sometimes because of pure determination and will to win.  Led her team to a perfect season and the Muscogee County Championship.

Kewanna Fortson
Led her team to back to back championship in 7th and 8th grade. Both years she was named championship game MVP and this year she was named the APS Player of the Year. Played her best in big games

Bria Harmon
The ultimate weapon on the court. She can attack the rim, can shoot the ball and also has very good vision to keep he players involved in the game. In the biggest game of the year she put up 19 points to help McConnell win the Gwinnett Championship.  McConnell would end the season as the #2 team ranked in the state.

Lacie McCoy
Part of a two headed monster as her defense and overall play helped Cherokee win the very competitive CCJBC with wins over Creekview and North Cobb

Sierra Blanton
The second part of the tandem at Cherokee. Sierra was a scoring machine, who could easily fill up the stat sheet in a half. Sierra was named the CCJBC Player of the Year.

Kalen Surles
Big guard with great talent. She is great in the open court, has a great shot and most importantly she can lead the team by getting all of her teammates involved. Her team had a great run this year making it high as the #2 ranking in the state and being the runner up in Gwinnett County Championship game.

Genesis Bryant
Pointe South
Very good player who led her team to the Clayton County Championship. Gets to the basket whenever she wants to and plays great defensive with her quick hands and quick feet. In the open court she makes great decisions as she is always looking to score either with a layup, pull up jump shot or getting into the lane and making it to the free throw line.

Kennedy Larkins
On a team that promotes winning with team play its great to have a player that is effective at all facets of the game.  Kennedy can do it all, she can score from inside or outside and she can guard the 1-4 because of the pride she takes in shutting another defender down.  Helped lead her team to the #1 ranking in the state and the Dekalb County Championship.

Laneja Warner
Fort Middle
A lefty that can flat out shoot the rock.  Plenty of times in games she has showed why she is one of the best shooters in the state.  With nerves of steel Laneja made big shots all season long for Fort Middle.  Her leadership, defense and commitment to winning helped lead her team to an undefeated season and a #4 ranking in the state.

Je’Niya Culbreath
Another true leader with the ball in her hands, she is efficient on offense in all phases from dribbling, shooting and passing. What puts her on the list is probably her defense as she is a monster out there. For the scheme that Stephenson runs it forces their players to get after it and thats exactly what Je’Niya does. Most importantly she is a leader that led her team to the Dekalb County championship and a #1 ranking in the state.

Diamond Swift
Helped lead her team to an undefeated season and #3 ranking in the state.  Every game Diamond showed up big.  Whatever the team needed Diamond was able to do.  She is a threat on defense just as much as she is one on offense.
