Gunner Stockton- #2 Pro Style QB in GA (Class 2022)

Gunner Stockton - 2018 8th grade

Gunner Stockton – Class 2022 (QB)

Gunner Stockton is a star quarterback in the class of 2022 for Rabun County. The 6’1 185lb #2 ranked Pro Style QB in GA has a big arm but not only can Gunner make every throw, he is also mobile enough to make an impact on the game with his legs. Stockton played up in age on the JV team last year as an 8th grader. The talented Quarterback skillset earned early high school reps for the future leader of the Rabun County offense. Stockton led Hustle Inc 7 on 7 to the AUG March Madness 15U Championship. He was named Tournament MVP for his outstanding quarterback performance. In addition to the JV regular season and 7 on 7 tournaments, Stockton also played for FBU against some of the best competition nationally all three years as a middle schooler.

A B2C QB of the Year finalist Gunner Stockton is the son of Rabun County defensive coordinator Rob Stockton. As the son of a coach he knows the game really well and takes the sport very seriously. “Coach Jaybo Shaw taught me how to handle myself and overcome adversity at the position. I have a good relationship with all of our coaches, I fit in well with the system at Rabun County” said Stockton.

Stockton has the arm to make all the throws and the athleticism needed to move the chains with his legs. “In a game against Franklin, I rolled out to the right and threw it forty yards for a touchdown”, he said. Also in our last game against Stephens County, a rival, I ran in a 20 yard touchdown late to finish off the win,” added Stockton. Plays like these help Stockton standout on the gridiron as a true dual threat. He’s got a rocket of an arm and he’s not afraid of contact as a hard-nosed runner.

“In a pressure moment of the FBU semi-finals against Maryland I connected with my receiver on a 50 yard go route,” Stockton explained. “That was a really cool moment. Later in that drive I broke a long run to help close out the game. It was a great experience to compete against the top players from around the nation,” added Stockton.

Stockton has big goals for the future of Rabun County football. “I want to earn the starting job for our high school. I want to get Rabun County back to the state championship and help these seniors go out on top”, Stockton told Born to Compete. The excellent quarterback play of Stockton will certainly put Rabun County in a positon to compete for a state championship over the next several years.  Alex Benson from Born To Compete says about Gunner “He can make all the throws and he is mobile enough to make plays with his legs to extend the play or pick up first downs.  He’s not a statue.  He can be a top QB in the country for sure”.
