In the Locker Room: Weekend Recap 9.28.15

High School
When I look at QB’s to me it has always been easy for me to pinpoint how good that player is going to be. When you get to the elite level all the QB’s are going to have a strong arm and for the most part most of them will be accurate. It comes down to decision making, mental and physical toughness and leadership. You can be accurate with bad decision making. When the bodies start flying around you and you have to make a decision where to throw the ball in 3 seconds it can be difficult. Mental and physical toughness is key. As a Qb you must learn to play hurt, just the reality of it. Can’t be the man sitting on the sideline. Mental toughness because their are going to be some very difficult moments that are going to be hard to accept but you must and move on to the next play. Leadership is very underrated. I define it as do players want to play with the QB, will they give everything they have knowing that their signal caller is the guy and he is going to get the job done.
Now I say all that because of the performance by Ryan Glover from Woodward. The first half he might have been the worse QB in the country. I mean he was really, really, really bad but the second half the light went on. He passed for over 200 yards and led his team to a comeback victory over Eagles Landing Christian 20-10. In that game he showed all the qualities you want in a QB and now that Elijah Holyfield is out with injury Glover is going to have to be “The Man”. If we go off his performance from last Friday night then he is headed in the right direction.

14U Division
Coach Dee from Ellenwood has slowly built one of the top 14U teams in the state. Last year was the first time they were relevant. Now they are continuing their quality play. It helped them to win a slugfest with Welcome All 13-0

8th Grade
Peachtree Ridge has always been a good team, Coach Lewis just needed to get a signature win under his belt and that is what he has with their win over Mill Creek. With a solid running game and a front seven that can shut down the run Peachtree Ridge has a chance to win the GFL.

6th Grade
North Atlanta Saints have a chance to have a special year. Playing in the NMFL they have a chance to run the table and go undefeated into the B2C Championship Series. They have very good QB play and their defense is never out of position and tackle well in the open field. North Atlanta will crack the top ten before the season is over.
