Ladainian Tomlinson RB of the Year Award
Jeremy Smith
Oglethorpe Charter Titans
To be a running back in this new age is different. They aren’t asked to run in between the tackles 18 times a game anymore or even see the whole field due to more use of the spread. At one time the RB position was considered one of the most coveted positions in football and now it seems as it is an after thought. The one god thing about youth football is it is all about teaching fundamentals and football to it’s core is a physical game and you can’t be successful in the younger ages without establishing the run game. So in youth football running backs are still king. That is why this years winner is so special, not only is he everything you can ask for in a running back, fast, powerful, elusive. He is smart, physical and most of all a leader. Jeremy Smith helped take a fairly new program and lead them to their first championship in the Savannah middle schools league. Everything that his coached asked Jeremy was able to do. If his team needed a big run he gave it to them. If they needed three yards for a first down he did it. If they needed him on 7 straight carries to close out a game that exactly what Jeremy did. Congrats to Jeremy Smith and the entire city of Savannah as they have their first award winner in B2C History as Jeremy Smith has been named the Ladainian Tomlinson Preparatory Academy Running Back of the Year.
