Lawrence Jordan – Class 2022

Lawrence Jordan is a star running back and linebacker in the class of 2022 out of Henry County. Jordan shines often on both sides of the ball for the Dutchtown Middle School and 12U Atlanta Ducks . In fact, he won championships with both teams this past fall. The 5’6 150lb bruiser delivers physicality on both sides of the scrimmage. Described as “strong as an ox”, Jordan is not shy of contact. “I love to drop my shoulder on somebody”, he told Born to Compete. His physicality is geared for the next level against bigger and stronger competition moving forward.

While Jordan is currently a two way player, his goals are set on starting at running back in high school. “I’d love to play running back”, he said. “There are certain things about the position that make me love the game more. I love making big plays at the big moments”, Jordan explained. “I play with great skill players around me that take the focus off me opening up more lanes in the running game. My line makes tremendous holes for me and I just do my job hitting them”, he added. In a game this past season, Jordan showed off his speed and strength on a 59 yard touchdown run. He took the hand-off to the outside edge, stiff-armed a defender to the ground, and out-ran everyone on his way to the end zone. Plays like that are why everyone is high on the rising freshman.

Now with the season over, the grind doesn’t stop. “I’m trying to get better at my blocking. I want to improve my speed more, too”, Jordan explained. Goals of contributing at the high school level next season are there with Jordan. “I just need to work hard, I’m going to be a freshman and I need to continue to work hard in high school”, he added.

One of Jordan’s favorite players to watch and emulate is LeVeon Bell. “Bell has great patience. When he sees the hole, he hits the hole. He’s someone I love to watch run”, Jordan added. The Pro Bowl running back is someone he sees himself giving credit to for his patience and vision while running the ball.

Jordan plays baseball in the spring for the Georgia Jackets and is a promising prospect on the diamond, too. The two sport athlete has a promising future ahead of him transitioning into high school. One of Henry County’s best will be bull-dozing down a sideline near you next fall.
