McEachern Indians // B2C Park Spotlight

~By Cody Butler

The McEachern football program out of Power Springs, Georgia annually produces champions and top players in the state of Georgia. The Indians compete in the one of the most competitive leagues in the state, the GMSAA. McEachern has produced some of the top players in the country placing athletes at division one schools across the country. Last fall, the Indians won the GMSAA Championship at both the 6th and 8th grade level. Coach David Brooks led the 8th grade team to their third consecutive championship winning the title at each rising level. Coach Marion Clark led the 6th grade team to the championship under Born to Compete Player of the Year Jashier Ratliff. The McEachern program has everything in place to succeed. “We have a great staff, great talent, and great support from the parents. That’s key, you need to have these three things to be successful,” said Coach Brooks.

“The 8th grade team last year was probably the most talented and complete team we’ve ever had. We outscored our competition 438-34”, said Coach Brooks. “We were explosive on offense with a defense you couldn’t score on. That was the best 8th grade team in the state of Georgia last year”, asserted Coach Brooks. “There was a team in 2012 that was close, but this is the first group we’ve had win all three grade levels”, he added. “I can sit here and name all 11 players on both sides of the ball and they’d all be studs. That’s how deep that team was last year”.

“Bryce Archie was an unbelievable quarterback. He was talented, smart and all around a great kid to coach. Sutton Smith was one of the best players to ever come through our program. He played running back, receiver, and everywhere we needed him on defense. Latrell Bullard was a star defensive tackle that has the potential to play on Sunday’s”, listed Coach Brooks. “We were able to do high school schemes with this group. They were so deep from top to bottom. They lost twice in 6th grade starting 1-2 before winning the championship that year and never losing another game. “Victor Okafor at middle linebacker led our defense. He was sideline to sideline, one of the best linebackers I’ve coached.” said Coach Brooks. “Coach Corey Jones worked with me last year on the 8th grade team. He’s taking over the 6th grade team this fall. Watch out for that team”, he added.

Coach Brooks has coached some of the top players to ever come through McEachern. Class of 2017 four star quarterback Bailey Hockman led the Indians as a middle school standout during his days in the GMSAA. Hockman is a quarterback now at Florida State University. Class of 2017 three star WR Tyler Smith was a dynamic player in the program under Coach Brooks. Smith is currently a wide receiver at Colorado State University. Brown is a three star running back in the class of 2019 for the McEachern varsity team with 12 offers approaching his senior year. In his 8th grade GMSAA Championship game, Brown ran for 395 yards and five touchdowns,

Coach Clark will move up to 7th grade this fall with his championship team. Star quarterback Jashier Ratliff missed time last year but came back to help lead the Indians over Roswell in the 6th grade championship game. The Indians aim to compete for championships at all three grade levels this fall.
