Monet Dance – Class 2023

Point guard Monet Dance is a rising star in the class of the 2023. The talented Cherokee County native spent this past season starting for both Teasley Middle School and playing up a grade with the 8th grade Cherokee Jr Warriors. Dance and the Junior Warriors finished their remarkable season winning the 8th grade Cobb County Junior Basketball Conference in February. Dance was named the CCJBC MVP after finishing with 24 points, 10 rebounds, and numerous assists.

Dance is an outstanding ball handler that makes her teammates better. She attributes her style of play to some of her favorite stars on the court. “I watch a lot of players that pass the ball so I look up to them, players like Chris Paul, Kyrie Irving and Maya Moore,” explained Dance.

She has the mindset to pass first and get her teammates involved but is more than capable of taking a game over offensively herself. In a game with Teasley Middle School earlier this year, she showed off her complete arsenal with 30 points, 10 assists, and multiple steals. An incredible highlight this year saw Dance fake out the defense and dish an assist behind the back against North Forsyth. Defensively she brings pressure on every possession and is always capable of stealing it. She’s a sparkplug on both sides of the ball every minute on the court.

“We were down in the semi-finals against Sequoyah but were able to wake up in the third quarter and finish out the win,” explained Dance. “That game stood out to me because we needed it to win the championship.” She added. The 8th grade Cherokee Junior Warriors went on to win the CCJBC Championship for a second consecutive season. “I want to win the CCJBC for a third straight year in 2019, that’s my goal”, Dance explained.

Dance was selected to the Atlanta All-Star showcase for a second time. In addition, she earned recognition at the University of the North Georgia for camper of the week, sharp shooter runner up, and the fabulous fun factory champion.

Dance is currently playing for Nike Elite in the EYBL against some of the best competition nationally. The sky is the limit for Dance as she continues to improve her talented skillset.
