Youth Running Back of the Year Finalists

Chris Rodriguez – North Henry Tigers (12U Division)
Scary talent, size, speed, vision. Could have easily made any all star team around if he was involved in the various programs. Saved his best for last against Welcome All in the SCFL Championship. Single handily almost beat Welcome All Panthers by himself with one of the greatest championship game performances in recent memory.

Rico Frye – Starrs Mills (8th Grade)
You know a player is good when they can go to a team and make them a championship contender by just putting on their jersey. The most underrated part of his game is his ability to run between the tackles. Has deceptive speed as you always see him running away from defenders. Reminds me of former Walton RB and Alabama commit Tyren Jones.

Cameron Gales – Sequoyah Chiefs (8th Grade)
Only one way to describe this kid and that is physical. Gayle might be the most physical runner in the southeast. Everytime he touches the ball he epodes through the hole and when it comes time for contact he delivers a blow to the defender. You can literally hear the pads pop all the way from the top of the stadium. Sometimes he is over looked because of the line that he plays behind but everyone on the the Chiefs team will tell you that Cameron deserves to be in the conversation as one of best RB’s in the state.

Kenneth Harris – South Gwinnet Comets (8th Grade)
Ran in a unconventional offense but he play still stood out as he was pure speed. If he ever got just a bit of daylight you were sure to see that Comets was going to take the run to the house. Led his team to the championship game in the GFL.

Nate Morgan – Central DeKalb Jaguars (11U Division)
No player in the country made a big of a leap as Morgan did. He was always a physical runner but what made Morgan take the next step was his involvement in summer track. In very big game Nate was able to have an impact in it and in the B2C Championship game he was at his best as he piled up over 250 yards with two 60+ yard TD runs that showed he had been putting in the work on the track during the summer.

Nicholas Burge – Rome Wolves (6th Grade)
Morgan and Rome Wolves are the same exact RB. Big, fast, physical and in big games he shows up. Out of all the RB’s on this list he has the best balance out of all them. He hardly ever takes a shot in which he isn’t able to keep his balance and continue to move forward. He is the face of the upstart Rome program as they have taken the GMSAA by storm.

Trevor Smith – Welcome All Panthers (12U Division)
Last year he was injured an he wasn’t able to have the season he wanted but the former B2C Player of the Year was back in the spotlight. A big physical back that can go the distance on any play because of his GA State Championship 100 Meter speed. Has the best vision between the tackles out of all the RB’s on this list. Trevor has speed, vision and is physical beyond belief.

Eddie Thomas – Gresham Park Rattlers (12U Division)
Big back but he is more Reggie Bush than Lendale White. Very elusive, played under the radar due to what happened with the GP Rattlers team this past year. Once he had his chance to play in front of the cameras against Baldwin he did not disappoint as he put on a show for all to see that would end up helping him with Gatorade Player of the Game.

Latavius Johnson – Tucker Lions (9U Division)
To be a 9 year old kid and be on the list list already let’s you know how good this kid must be. This year he played with the Tucker Lions who are known to produce physical RB that have gone on to play at a high level at high school, college and pro. Not saying Tay is going to be playing in the pros but he is playing at a unreal high level right now. Tay is the only player to play in the B2C Championship game in consecutive years for two different teams in which he was arguably the best player.
