Leading With Authority
Knox Westmorland 2028 QB Lambert
One thing about the QB position is you must be a leader whether it’s quiet or loud. Vocally leading or leading by example, in some form or fashion the team has to have some leadership quality to follow. As for Westmorland, he’s been able to find that and continues to grow as a leader.
“As an individual I feel great, last year I had a great season. Throughout the season I grew as a leader and in 7 games – I threw for (9) TD’s and rushed for (2) TD’s. At the end of the season, I was fortunate enough to receive All-County and was selected to play in the Georgia Elite Classic.” Says Westmorland.
Playing well and leading on and off the gridiron certainly helps players gain honors such as playing in games like the “Georgia Elite Classic”
“At the end of my 7th Grade Season – I received the Rising Eagle Award. This gave me extra motivation coming into my 8th Grade season to really work hard. I put in a lot of work with my QB Coach (Jalen Whitlow BTG Athletix) in the offseason and as a team – we worked really hard in the summer with a goal to win the championship.” Westmorland states
Working with guys such as Jalen Whitlow will only help improve one as a QB due to the college experience that Whitlow possesses on top of his high IQ of the QB position as well as the game itself.
“Ultimately due to numerous injuries to some of our key players – we fell short to North Forsyth Middle School in the Semi-Finals. Our final record was 3-4 but our combined losses were by a total of 14 points.” Says Westmorland.
“I am truly excited to be going to Lambert High School next year and have the opportunity to play for Coach Beach. My main goal is to continue to become a better leader and for us to go undefeated.”
A new place and new opportunities to carry along what Westmorland has been doing is only going to benefit the Lambert program in the near future as well as benefit Westmorland too.
Westmorland says he’s thrilled and grateful to be apart of what he came from and what he’s going into. “ I am extremely grateful to Coach Godfree and all of the other coaches at South Forsyth Middle School that always supported me and gave me this opportunity.”
