Gilbert is looking to improve every time he touches the gridiron. As hard as Gilbert works he will continue to improve at a rapid rate along with his teammates who have also been putting in work up to this point just less than two weeks away from the start of the regular season.

“Personally I think last season was a success individually. I was ranked #49 in the state and I was named AAAA 1st team all region as sophomore. As a team I think we could’ve done better such as giving it 100% on the field. Although our record wasn’t that great I think that it was a success because our starters this past year wasn’t very experienced.” Says Gilbert.

Gilbert expects to build on all of the positive things that happened for him and his team last season and plans to learn and grow from the negative things of last season. That’s what separates good and great players.

“This summer i have been focused on just getting better and grind. I attended a few camps this summer and have been focusing on my weight while trying to maintain speed. I think this upcoming season will be very successful because we just got moved down to 2a and I also think we will have more chemistry as a team considering our 25’s and 26’s have more of a bond. Our defense should be lock down, we have class of 25’ Corbin Dixon and also class of 25 Darien Hoskins in the box at linebacker.” Gilbert states.

Gilbert says, “Our goals are win a region championship. I’ll be at SS and OlB. I plan to have 75+ tackles while having over 5 sacks. This season is going to be a blast and I can’t wait!”

Expect Gilbert and his squad to really make a push and standout this season. The off-season will be huge for Gilbert this year. Gilbert stood out at the Showcase event at Cartersville High School.
