Top Freshman Performances From Week 1
Top Freshman Performances From Week 1
Julian Lewis – Carrollton
An outstanding young prospect and one of the best young quarterbacks across the country, Lewis dominated in his first varsity game at Carrollton, tossing 5 touchdowns in his high school debut, leading the Trojans to a big 69-7 win over Gadsden City. Lewis was quick with the ball, efficient, and played like an upperclassman, going 18/27 for 286 yards and 5 touchdowns. The Trojans have their QB for the next four years, and he got off to a near-perfect game to start the 2022 season.
Deuce Geralds – Collins Hill
A dynamic pass-rushing defensive lineman, Geralds dominated in middle school and got his high school career off to a bang with a giant debut against out-of-state program in Life Christian Academy. Sources say Geralds had three unofficial stats in his first ballgame for 7A powerhouse Collins Hill, and he did it against a stout offensive line. He’s quick and explosive off the ball, and many expect him to have a giant career over the next four years. The hype is real, and he made a major impact in his very first high school football game.
Kingston Fitzhugh – Collins Hill
A promising young tackle prospect, the young freshman started at right tackle for Collins Hill over the weekend and helped lead Collins Hill to a strong 20-0 victory. It’s not easy to start as a true freshman anywhere, but to do it on the offensive line, at a powerhouse e7A program like Collins Hill, makes his achievement even more impressive.
Aaron Gregory – Augusta Christian
A fluid runner and crisp receiver with good size for his age. Gregory got plenty of playing time in his first varsity game and brought down at least one long pass from what we gathered. He doesn’t play against the best competition, so with his talent and ball skills. Gregory should see lots of passes come his way during his freshman season this year. He’s also a terrific standout in the secondary, making 9 tackles at safety in his first game. On offense, Gregory caught 4 passes for 45 yards in the season opener.
Bear McWhorter – Cass
A top offensive line prospect to know about in North Georgia, McWhorter has already found his way into the starting lineup as a freshman and held down the left tackle spot for an up and programing Cass program that nearly knocked off Kennesaw Mountain over the weekend. At 6-foot-4 280-pounds, McWhorter already has plenty of size and has a very high ceiling at tackle. Already starting at left tackle as a freshman, McWhorter has a chance to see some offers come his way sooner than later.
