Making The Transition, Same Mindset For The “Stellar” Keller
Drew Keller Warner Robins C/O 2027 LB
Warner Robins High School finished their 23-24 season with a quarter final loss in 5A to Creekside High. As a program as strong and prestigious as Warner Robins, you can expect them to be back and they are always back with players who know how to win.
“We under achieved our goal to make it to the state final as we had made it to the state championship game in the previous seven consecutive years. From an individual standpoint, prior to my freshman year I transferred from Gainesville to WRHS at the end of July. By that time I had missed the spring and summer training at Warner Robins but I still was able to play varsity as a freshman at LB and Special Teams.” Says Keller.
Getting to accomplish what Keller did as a freshman is as impressive as any. Keller is only getting better especially this off-season.
“This off-season I am hard at work in the weight room and the field. I workout with a couple of local football trainers, Coach Thone Harris and Coach Marquez Thomas trying to improve my game. In addition to all the University coaches that visited us so far this year we will have over one hundred more University coaches coming through our facilities watching our Spring practices. Based on that I will then decide which university camps I will attend this year for further exposure.” Keller said.
“My freshman I ended the year at Outside LB. I am learning the “Mike” LB position as I will be the starting Mike in my Sophomore year. As I mentioned earlier WRHS has a tradition like no other high schools in Georgia. Our goal remains to win the region and go on to win the state championship. Anchoring our defense this coming year are 2 highly rated division 1 prospects Isiah Gibson and Rasean Dinkins who have many power 5 offers. Head Coach Shane Sams this past year had nine players receive Division One and Division Two offers. Our Coaching staff does a great job for finding opportunities for our Graduating Seniors. This upcoming season I have high personal expectations as do my coach’s have of me. I will be exceeding them as I have something to prove.” Keller stated.
Keller is going to be one of the best linebackers on the entire state if he keeps up the hard work and great play. At a program like Warner Robins it’s only set up for success for the both of them.
