Hurricanes Arise as the Season Progresses

Everyone in the state of Georgia knows about football in Cartersville, Georgia. There’s quite a tradition there in Bartow County when it comes to the Purple Hurricanes.

You can trace it back a long way, probably as far back as you want to. Most notably, many remember Ronnie Brown. Brown was a standout running back at Cartersville High School, winning a state title in the late ’90s. Brown then went on to become a star and an all-time great running back at Auburn University, only to enter the NFL and have a solid career.

You can take any of the great players from that era through the Trevor Lawrence era. Trevor Lawrence went on to win two state titles while being the quarterback at Cartersville and then attended Clemson, winning a national title in his freshman year. Lawrence entered the NFL and has had a really good start to his NFL career.

We are now in a new era of Cartersville football, with new names on the rise.

Starting with Jamauri Brice, who’s an excellent standout for the Purple Hurricanes. Brice shines on both ends of the ball as a wide receiver (WR) and cornerback (CB). Brice is having an outstanding season and looks to build on that as the second half of the regular season progresses.

Langston Hogg is a 2026 offensive lineman (OL) for Cartersville and is having a monster season. Hogg will be one of the main players that the Hurricanes lean on as the season moves forward. He played a significant role in their 21-17 victory over the Calhoun Yellowjackets, contributing to the comeback.

Nate Russell is a 2026 quarterback (QB) at Cartersville, and we all know the expectations and standards at that position in that school are as high, if not higher, than at any other school in the country. Russell has been efficient thus far and aims to improve as the weeks go by. Keep an eye on Russell in the next couple of seasons.
