Resilience and Determination: A Comeback Story
Harris Turner C/O 2028 QB Cartersville
“It’s not always how you start, it’s how you finish.” This age-old adage holds true for Harris Turner, a rising talent in the world of football who faced a challenging season but emerged stronger and more determined than ever.
Reflecting on the previous season, Turner recounts a string of injuries that tested his mettle. “Last season was rough. I played through the first 5 games and broke my wrist. A week later, I wore a club and played with the cast on, but the week after that, I broke my collarbone as well. Needless to say, it was a rough year, and I had to try and lead my team from the sidelines,” says Turner.
Turner embodies the “old school” mentality of playing through injuries and finding ways to contribute to his team. However, life can throw unexpected challenges just when you think you’re about to get back up.
The key is how you respond, and Turner responded with resilience. “I would say this past off-season went really well. I’m a dual-sport athlete, so I spent most of my time playing baseball, but when I got an opportunity, I spent the rest of the time playing 7v7 and training to get ready for the upcoming season,” he shares. Summer practice proved fruitful, and Turner, along with his teammates and coaches, was ready for the year ahead.
The season turned out to be a success, with a commendable 8-2 record, although falling short in the championship. Personally, Turner had a standout season, boasting 1765 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, a 76% completion rate, and contributing 200 yards rushing with 3 rushing touchdowns. Despite the championship loss, he cherishes the experience of playing with his teammates and looks back on a great season.
As the off-season kicks off, Turner has been invited to showcase his skills in the Georgia Elite Classic and the Born To Compete All American game. Excitement radiates from Turner as he gears up for the challenges that lie ahead.
“I will be playing 7v7, engaging in position training, and hitting the weight room to get stronger, strengthen my body, and bulk up. The ultimate goal is to be at my best for Friday nights when my time comes,” Turner reveals. Looking forward to the next season, he emphasizes the dedication of his team, stating, “I am part of a really special group, and we are going to be a team to keep an eye on in the near future as we grow and develop.”
